About

  Jeanne Fries is a socially engaged artist, educator and psychospiritual care provider (therapist). Her art work explores power dynamics in our built and social environments through sculpture, painting, interactive installations and socially engaged art projects. She is passionate about pedagogy, contemplative practices and education. In 2025 she illustrated the book Reincarnation by Thich Nhat Hanh and Brother Pháp Lưu.

Fries studied at the Glasgow School of Art (Sculpture and Environmental Art)  and at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey (ceramics and philosophy). She received a BFA with minors in Philosophy and Art History from Mount Allison University(2016). Fries has shown in New York, NY, Portland, OR, Miami, FL, Glasgow, UK, and Istanbul, Turkey.

She is honoured to be currently living and working in Toronto, ON Canada, the home of many — the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabeg, and most recently the Mississaugas of the Credit, whose relationship with this land long precedes and will long outlast any map drawn upon it. She holds this ground with gratitude and responsibility.
